I am disappointed in the President for using the word "thug" in his comments about Ferguson. And I am disappointed that he admonished protestors to be peaceful and behave in a lawful manner, but did not give the law enforcement persons the same
advice. It just makes me feel bad. So many TV news shows have been showing warnings of imminent rioting by the citizens of St. Louis, but ignoring the threatening behaviour of the law enforcement cartel. The young black leaders at St Louis have been constructive and offering good forward-looking ideas for their city, and the police have offered nothing that I've seen on TV except more weapons, National Guard, more personnel, and actual threats. There's something really wrong here- there are so many good stories in the St. Louis area that aren't being covered, from the death threats against Mocabee's Coffee Shop in the Shaw neighborhood, to Klan threats against blacks, to the giant spike in gun sales in the white suburbs, to the racist hate talk by police officers on their "coptalk" blog. St. Louis badly needs serious and deep journalism. The St. Louis American is good, but it's working alone. Some national networks are doing OK coverage but they'll be gone in a few weeks. We need depth. Really disappointed in the President's choice of words.
