Today in The Forward there is a thoughtful and introspective article on Jared Kushner. Peter Beinart wrote it. It’s entitled “How could modern Orthodox Judaism produce Jared Kushner?”
It describes the suffering of his family and his grandmother’s miraculous survival when the Nazis purged their town in Belarus of Jews.
He writes of the scriptural lessons of the enslavement of the Jews in Egypt, and wonders why Mr. Kushner never learned the lessons that history, including his own history, should have taught him.
Altogether it is an enlightening piece of writing on arrogance, abuse of power, ahistoricism, and religious ignorance.
