There may be old time musicians here who remember my neighbor, Billy Faire. He has been a musician all his life.
Now he’s hitting the end of the road. His friends are taking care of him.
I just walked over there and told him that I appreciated his lifelong devotion to our beautiful American music.
We had a short chat. He said, “The six musicians that meant the most were Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Ledbelly, and...ah, I forget the rest”.
He has morphine for the pain and just smoked a joint, which restored his appetite so that he ate today.
I am sure there is a folk song appropriate for this sad time.
