Guns in my Library

I spent a bit of time earlier yesterday reading "Man with a gun-call 9-1-1" here. I nodded to myself and recc'd it, a fine idea followed by mostly worthwhile comments. Now it's 12:50 AM. I have just sat straight up in bed thinking "What about my library?" First thing in the morning I'm going in (on my day off) to look at the policies & procedures book, to see what changes we need to make. I'll talk to my assistant- it's a two person operation. Then I'll email the board members to share what I find in the P&P, and maybe ask for a meeting to discuss a really unhappy  eventuality... I know one thing for goddam sure, one man with a gun sets foot on my library's property, and I'm calling 9-1-1. I don't care if they are carrying it in a safe unloaded condition, if the clips are out, and I sure as hell don't care about their so-called Second Amendment freedoms. I hate being up this late- thanks, Texas legislators, thanks, NRA, thanks, US Congress. I guess our lockdown and security procedures aren't just a little paragraph in the back of the dusty P&P book now... I just hate being afraid for my kids.
